HM Supports Gingko House “LOVE Project”
Last week, HM SRT volunteer team visited Gingko House O Bakery and distributed hundreds of "bread of love" to the under-privileged groups in the local community.
This traditional bakery has been in business for over 40 years and inherited the exceptional skills of several old master bakers. Many people come here for the variety of breads and especially buying the Chinese pastries that are now rarely seen in other HK bakery shops. The baker thoughtfully avoids adding too much powdered sugar, allowing the elderly to enjoy the food without burden to their health.
In addition to its efforts to pass down traditional delicacies from generation to generation, the bakery also embodies a strong neighborhood spirit: Supporting local shop with HK authentic culture and allowing the nostalgia of those flavors to be preserved.
HM donated a total of 1,000 breads this year, and distributed the redemption cards to the neighborhood in advance. We feel very blessed that the weather was fine on the event day, with warm sunshine and gentle breezes. Thus it didn’t give hard time to the elderly on the queue. We offered our greetings, and they responded with cheerful smiles - it made the occasion so heartwarming.
Gingko House is a local social enterprise that aims to support the employment of underprivileged groups and improve the living standards of the elderly. We are grateful that Gingko House has provided us the opportunity to participate and share this wonderful experience of giving back to the community.
